Celebrating 20 Years with Vicky Milne...
We are lucky enough to have an outstandingly long service record! We must be doing something right!
Today is the turn of Vicky, much loved and valued across our entire group. Let’s face it you can’t be part of a business for 20 years and not make an impact!
Every individual in our business brings something… Vicky brings everything! Stafforce through and through, this lady has seen it all, we are so very, very lucky to have her with us.
Vicky is very modest and when we asked her to be interviewed, initially she was coy but in true Vicky style, she delivered her best!
What enticed me to join Stafforce 20 years ago?
I worked as a self-employed professional car valeter when a friend asked me if I’d ever considered working with people. That friend, Lyndsay Rowles, worked as a consultant for Stafforce Grimsby and she was recruiting for an onsite coordinator for the Youngs contract. I needed a job with a guaranteed income so I decided to apply! I had an interview with Caroline Bond (HR at the time) and unfortunately, I wasn’t successful due to the lack of experience but I interviewed well! 2 weeks later I received a call offering me the role as the person that was engaged for the role had left. I jumped at the chance and was excited about my new venture ahead. I settled in well and found the role rewarding as it was helping others to achieve what they needed to enable them to be their best! I loved working with people and found it relatively easy to manage the onsite operation and the people there. The trick was definitely….help others and they will help you!
In 20 years, you must have learnt a lot! If you were starting now what advice would you give yourself?
Hold tight! It’s going to be a very fast ride!! I can’t believe it’s been 20 years!! I don’t even feel that old (well maybe sometimes and certainly over the last year lol) I’m glad that this is a theoretical question, as I have learned so much over the years, generally about people. I think I’ve learned the right things, at the right time for me and my career. Had some amazing support from the people I work with and around me which also includes the great clients I’ve worked with along the way. So I’m glad I haven’t been able to give myself any advice or my journey may have been different. The one thing that stands out in my mind is… everyone is different and you have no idea what people are dealing with day-to-day as we don’t stand in their shoes. Always be mindful of this, respectful and do your utmost to make someone else’s day better! If you can make someone smile….you’re winning in life! And I still learn every day!
After 20 years, what motivates you to continue to strive to be your best?
This is easy to answer….the people I work around and for. I’m pleased I chose a business that the owners are absolutely people orientated to the core. They care about what we are doing for others and truly believe our workers are our gold! The colleagues I work alongside, from my team I work directly with (who are like my family) to the Head Office/Central support I have and have had throughout my career (too many to list) has been second to none! It is one team and we all support each other to achieve our promises and goals. The people I work with make the challenges easier and worthwhile! We pick each other up and catch each other when needed! My work family are simply the best which enables me to be the best!
You’re a huge asset to the company Vicky – thank you for your dedication to our Group
