We embraced the challenge and went from zero to providing 50 permanent and 80 temporary local jobs for local people, overcoming a number of obstacles along the way.Not many people live in Annan and being 20 miles from the nearest major town, it is also a remote location. As a new employer into the area, Young's did not have an existing presence in the community and were competing for local workers with two other big employers, Tesco and Pinneys.
So, the demographics were challenging and this, combined with the fact that Young's was starting production in a month and had plans to rapidly expand, ensured that the Stafforce team had its work cut out!
Stafforce hit the ground running and an existing member of the team was deployed to Scotland for four months whilst we recruited a local account manager. We mirrored the quality standards and procedures that are used at our existing Grimsby sites, ensuring that Young's was guaranteed 100% compliance with legislation and customer audits. Tried and tested over the years, success is demonstrated by the fact that the business had never once failed an audit; indeed in 2006 Stafforce was the only employer featured to spot fraudulent ID documents in a Panorama expose.
