A leading Managed Hosting client in Lincolnshire has an immediate vacancy for a Shift Engineer to join its expanding team. The main focus of the role is to work within hosting, but also to move into supporting IP based telephony in the future.
The role will be based in the Lincoln operations centre, and will mainly involve remote support, although there could be some on site work required.
Main Duties:
&x2022; Linux system administration - ability to install, maintain and support a Linux software installation, including installing and configuring common Linux application software such as mail servers, DNS servers and web servers
&x2022; Windows system administration - ability to install, maintain and support a Windows software installation, including installing and configuring common Windows server roles such as Exchange, IIS, SharePoint, Active Directory etc
&x2022; Ethernet network administration - ability to install and maintain complex switched Ethernet networks, including knowledge of VLANs, port security etc
&x2022; IP Network administration - ability to specify, install and maintain IP networks, including IP subnetting, routing, filtering and firewalling, bandwidth control and IPSec VPN
&x2022; Hardware maintenance - ability to install, maintain and support common PC server and networking hardware, including hardware build and installation, and component replacement
Experience:
You must be CISCO qualified or have considerable experience with using Linux
Windows System Administration experience is also essential
You must be able to drive and own your own vehicle to travel to on-site operations
Hours:
Working on a 3 shift system that rotates on a weekly basis, Monday to Friday:
6.30am to 2.30pm, 1.30pm to 9.30pm, 9pm to 7am Sunday to Thursday
